Dr Maheshwari has been associated with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi for nearly two decades. After completing his graduation and post graduation in Orthopaedics from AIIMS he did his senior residency at the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi. Subsequently he joined AIIMS as assistant professor in Orthopaedics. During his stay at the institute he went abroad for specialised training on a number of occasions including the Common Wealth Fellowship to the UK.
Dr Maheshwari is presently the chief of Joint replacement and arthroscopic surgery at the Indian Spinal Injury Centre, Vasant Kunj. He also has a Knee and shoulder clinic at East of Kailash, and do an exclusive Knee and shoulder practice. He is one of the pioneers in joint replacement surgery of knee and shoulder joints, and a leading surgeon for arthroscopic surgery on the shoulder joint.
Dr Maheshwari has a keen academic inclination. He has authored a number of books, one of which - ESSENTIAL ORTHOPAEDICS is the best selling book of orthopaedics in India. He is on the editorial board of Indian Journal of Orthopaedics.
