Pale or yellowish skin

People with vitamin B12 deficiency have a slightly yellow tinge to the skin due to a lack of red blood cells.

Fatigue

When your body does not receive enough vitamin B 12 for the production of red blood cells to transport oxygen throughout the body, as a result, you feel tired and weak.

Glossitis

It is one of the early signs of vitamin B12 deficiency. In this condition, you may experience a red and swollen tongue.

Dizziness

If you become anaemic due to vitamin B12 deficiency, you may experience symptoms like dizziness, shortness of breath and irregular heartbeats.

Low levels of vitamin B12 are linked with changes in mood. One may experience symptoms of depression, mental confusion and forgetfulness.

Food sources

Tuna, salmon, dairy products and eggs are good sources of vitamin B12. There are very limited vegetarian sources of vitamin B12. Some of these are- yogurt,   low-fat milk and fortified products.
