Introduction

Type-2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. The signs and symptoms are similar to those of type-1 diabetes. Here are some of these you must watch out for.

Increased urination

When your blood sugar levels are high, the kidneys filter the extra sugar, increasing the need to urinate, especially at night.

Excessive thirst

Frequent urination leaves your body dehydrated and you feel the need to add more fluids to your diet.

Extreme hunger

People with diabetes do not get enough glucose as fuel from the bloodstream for body's cells. This results in increased appetite.

Skin issues

Skin problems like dryness, itching and dark patches around neck or armpit are a few signs of type-2 diabetes.

Slow healing of wounds

High blood sugar levels can damage your blood vessels, impairing blood circulation. As a result, wounds may take longer to heal.

Blurry vision

Excess sugar in the blood can affect the tiny vessels in the eyes which can cause blurry vision. If left untreated, this damage can become severe or even permanent.

Other symptoms

Some other common symptoms of type-2 diabetes include- frequent yeast infections, numbness or tingling in hands or feet and unintended weight loss.
