MIND Diet: What To Eat And Avoid

The MIND diet (Mediterranean-DASH Diet Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay) is designed to promote brain health and reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease.

Currently, there are no set guidelines for how to follow the MIND diet. Here's a summary of what you should eat and avoid.

Foods to eat

Green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach, and broccoli. Aim for at least six servings per week.

Berries

Berries, especially blueberries and strawberries, should be consumed at least twice a week.

Nuts

Try to get five or more servings of nuts each week.

Whole grains

Consume at least three servings of whole grains daily, like oatmeal and whole grain bread.

Others

Also include fish, olive oil, wine, poultry and beans in the MIND diet.

Avoid these

Red meat, fried food, processed foods, butter and cheese should be consumed in limited quantities.
