Any type of transportation like car, train and airplane can cause motion sickness. It can strike suddenly, from a feeling of uneasiness and lead to cold sweat, dizziness and even vomiting. But the more you travel, the more easily you'll adjust to being in motion.
While travelling focus on the horizon or on a distant, stationary object and don't read.
To prevent dizziness while travelling, keep your head still, while resting against a seat back.
Smoking while traveling irritates your throat and makes you feel nauseate. So, don't smoke and do not sit next to smokers as passive smoking is equally bad for those who suffer from motion sickness.
Spicy and greasy foods are hard to digest and trigger acid reflux, which can be bothersome while traveling.
Take an over-the-counter antihistamine at least 30 to 60 minutes before you travel. Though it prevents motion sickness, it causes drowsiness.
Drink a carbonated beverage like soda water, lemonade etc. to help settle your stomach if you become ill.
If you do not want to take medication, eat dry crackers and other simple foods to avoid acidity.
Overeating before or while traveling can lead to stomach troubles like acidity.
Watch your consumption of foods, drinks, and alcohol before and during travel. Avoid excessive alcohol and foods or liquids that make you feel unusually full.
