Morning sickness is a term used to describe nausea and vomiting that occurs during pregnancy therefore it is always advisable to avoid smells and food that make you feel worse.

Eat more often but smaller amounts. Try not to go more than four hours between eating.

Avoid large meals because eating small and frequent meals help prevent heartburn and nausea.

It is a normal occurrence but in some cases it may be excessive and distressful. Rest as much as you can as feeling tiredness makes the feeling worse.

Avoid eating spicy or fatty foods as they tend to irritate the lining of the stomach resulting in the production of more gastric acids.

Keep biscuits handy to eat before getting out of bed. Eating foods that contain carbohydrates, such as biscuits or a slice of dry toast after getting up in the morning helps minimise nausea.

Try to eat clean and fresh foods or foods that smells lemony, which may make you feel better during morning sickness.

Try to wear lose clothes that don't put pressure on your stomach.

The exact cause of morning sickness is not known. It may be caused by hormonal changes or lower blood sugar levels that occur during early pregnancy. Therefore, get out of bed slowly.
