Torn ligaments of the knee joint

Q: What would you suggest for torn ligaments of the knee joint. This case is now 11 years old and the knee joint is stiff eversince the accident.

A:It is very rare to have a tear of all the ligaments of the knee joints. I am not sure if the diagnosis is right. Possibly the internal two ligaments (anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are torn), you have mentioned that your knee joint is stiff with a 30¦ range of movement. This is not good for any reconstruction procedure. Possibly the combination of injuries that you had has led to arthritic changes in the knee, hence, the stiffness of the knee. The X-rays of your knee will have to be assessed and a thorough clinical evaluation done for any opinion on treatment.
