Q: I am 58 male and weigh 81 kgs. I was operated for slipped disc in 1986. Is it possible to reduce weight by brisk walking? I also have knee arthritis.
A:Keeping in view your arthritis of the knee you should keep your brisk walking to 20 minutes or so. Keep your stomach pulled in while walking. That will not really help in weight reduction. Try & keep to an oil free diet & you should be able to loose about 2 Kgs in a month. You can continue your quadriceps exercises for the knee. Please do not attempt any weight reduction exercises as your back may suffer.
