Q: I have a pricking sensation at the lower right side of the abdomen, the place where the appendix is located, when I take take food with some gap of time or more coffee or when stressed. Is it due to appendicitis? The pain is very sharp at that place. But I do not have ulcer in general. I take some antiallergic drug cetrizine hydrochloride, 10 mg thrice daily for 3 days, when I have such pain. And it becomes alright soon.
A:The symptoms you have described of pain in the right lower quadrant of the abdomen which becomes worse after eating is not typical of appendicitis. There could be several causes of this type of symptoms from simple problems like parasitic infestations to different types of problems in the intestine. It is difficult to give an opinion without examining you and getting some investigations done depending on the findings. I suggest that if the symptom persists you contact a surgeon locally and have yourself examined.
