Fingers - Joined

Q: My 14 year old son has three fingers of his right hand joined. They are smaller than the fingers of his left hand. Last year his fingers were operated but again the skin has joined back.

A:Your child has a condition called syndactyly in which one or more fingers are fused by a bridge of skin. If they have again fused after the operation, your child will need another operation. This time the gap will have to be covered by a skin graft so that re-fusion is prevented. You may see a good pediatric surgeon or plastic surgeon in Mumbai for this.
