Q: What is fincar and what are its side effects?

A:Fincar is the trade name while the name of the medicine is finasteride. It is used for men with benign(non malignant)enlargement of prostate. The side effects are impotence, loss of sexual desire, decrease in the volume of semen, tenderness or enlargement of male breast, allergic reactions such as skin rash, swelling of lip etc. These side effects are not very common but can occur in some patients.
