Children - broncho-pneumonia

Q: My daughter is 2 years and 9 months old and she was admitted in hospital 10 days back for high fever. The doctor diagnosed Broncho-pneumonia. For the past few days she is again having severe cold and finding it difficult to breathe during the night. Please suggest ways to avoid the attack of cold and precautions to be taken.

A:Your daughter was unfortunate to have developed Broncho-pneumonia requiring hospitalization. If she is still coughing excessively at night, she may have an allergy underlying the cough and cold. It is best to consult your doctor if a course of broncho-dilators and inhaled steroids be necessary for her to control her symptoms.
