A graduate from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune in 1984. Research Fellow in the Department of Hematology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (1987-89). Post-graduate from the University of Rajasthan in Pathology. Senior Demonstrator in the Department of Pathology at the Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner (1991-1993). Joined the Department of Haematology, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital as a Senior Resident and rose to be a Senior Consultant. Working as a Technical Officer (Blood Safety) with the World Health Organization, WHO Headquarters, Geneva since September 2008.
More than 14 years experience in the overall operation and administration of a haematology laboratory with competency in standardization and quality control of laboratory procedures and expertise in reporting and providing consultation for malignant and non-malignant haematological disorders. International experience in providing technical advise to corporates on health-related subjects pertaining to strategic development, pivotal trials valuation and therapeutic landscape assessment. Proficient in the use of internet technology in Medicine and maintenance of website content with experience in development and application of Hospital and Laboratory Information Systems. His work in the WHO involves supervision, follow-up of implementation, regular project reports and coordination of ongoing country-specific projects in the priority countries for strengthening of blood transfusion services and provision of technical input, management and completion of projects on the publication of WHO recommendations and guidelines in the field of blood safety. He is also responsible for the regular review and updating of WHO Blood Transfusion Safety and World Blood Donor Day websites. His affiliations include Delhi Society of Hematology (Member Executive Committee and Secretary Website), Indian Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Member Expert Committee on Clinical Flowcytometry, National Accreditation Board Limited, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
