Dr Padman is a consultant paediatric orthopaedic surgeon in Max Institute of Orthopaedics and Joint replacement, Max Healthcare, New Delhi.
He completed his undergraduate medical training and post graduation in orthopaedics at JPIMER, Pondicherry. He completed his masters in orthopaedics securing a gold medal from Pondicherry University. Subsequently, he completed his Diplomate National Board Examinations in orthopaedics before working as a senior resident at JPIMER.
Following his training in India, he went to UK for higher training in orthopaedics. He completed his surgical fellowship from the royal college of physicians and surgeons of Glasgow before entering into a higher surgical training programme in trauma and orthopaedics on the Yorkshire rotation. He was conferred the fellowship in trauma and orthopaedics by the Intercollegiate of Board of Examination.
He developed his interest in Children's Orthopaedics during the course of his junior residency at JPIMER, when he published a university dissertation on the management of neglected and relapsed clubfeet using soft tissue distraction. He acquired his further specialised training in all aspects of paediatric orthopaedics at the Sheffield children's hospital in UK, where he was the national fellow for more than a year. He briefly worked as a consultant in paediatric orthopaedic and trauma surgery at the Sheffield children's hospital before returning to India.
Dr Padman's area of expertise spans the entire spectrum of paediatric orthopaedics - trauma, infections, congenital abnormalities, metabolic disorder, post traumatic / infective sequelae, limb reconstruction, deformity correction and neuromuscular conditions. He is specially trained in Ponseti method of management of clubfeet, the use of llizarov taylor spatial frame for limb reconstruction, techniques of guided growth for correction of deformaties and management of cerebral palsy including gait analysis.
