There are many critical health issues in our country due to which we are losing 2-5 % of our GDP. A sensitive media will be the one which would help address this issues or at least not encourage practices which are hazardous for health living. We do not need always state of art equipment to remain healthy. Showing bottle feeding on screen and in daily serial which is unfortunately very commonly seen in serials (e.g. recent realty show on pati patni aur woh ) goes a long way creating unhealthy, malnourished babies in India in urban and rural sectors. This has serious long term and short term impact on India’s economical development. I would urge media to be sensitive towards what they show on TV and how it encourage unhealthy practices in a nation which equally needs behavior change towards many child and mother sensitive healthy issues then only state of art equipment. Media is bringing awareness of current situation. In present context, Media brought awareness of swine flu; people are taken care from Swine flue. Now a day, I could not hear any single word about swine flu from popular news channels, Is it means swine flu eradicated from India? Many people thinking that swine flue has been controlled. Is it real truth? People are become casual and also casual taking precaution from such a fatal spreading disease. So far How many people treated information from this disease is no where available and no channels are telecasting/ broadcasting such a details, which will bringing confidence to people as it is treatable. Since India like country is having population more than 100 crores, Govt should be very cautious and should bring more awareness programme and vaccine as early as possible. Another big bottle neck of this disease is testing cost (Rs. 9000) at private clinic is not affordable by any middle class and below the level of people in our society. This situation has to be improved. Govt. should take more action and precautions not to spread such a disease.
