Is Tacroz an effective drug for atopic eczema?

Q: My 2 years old daughter is suffering from Atopic Eczema and severe food allergies with milk, nuts, eggs, etc. The food allergy triggers the eczema too. I am applying Hydrocortisone for the last 2 years and now betamathasone, but in vain. She has patches at different places, which subside but do not get cured. I have heard of Tacroz. Is it non-steroid and safe? Can I get it in Canada?

A:Tacrolimus is non-steroidal immunosuppressant. It is indicated for treatment of refractory atopic eczema. It is sold under several brand names by different manufacturers. You will need to procure it from India since it is much cheaper. I suggest you purchase Mustopic Ointment brand that costs Rs. 140 for a 10 g tube. You can arrange to procure it from any good chemist shop in Delhi.
