Q: My 3 year old son has black moles in the white portion of his eyes. Thye do not trouble him in any way, but we are concerned. Will it affect his vision later?

A:Conjunctival moles are known to appear till about 30 years of age. Therefore appearance of black moles in your son's eye is normal. However all the moles have a malignant potential, more so in older age. To be on the safe side, it is advisable to document the size of the moles and to get surgical removal and biopsy done, if any sign of change in the form of increased size or redness or irregularity of the moles occurs.
