Are Glyciphage and Glucophage similar?

Q: What is the difference between Glucophage and Glyciphage? My doctor had asked me to take metformin - metaphage. So I gave the same prescription to a pharmacy in India and they gave me Glyciphage. My doctor said I would lose some weight once I start the medication but I have not lost even 1 kg. Is the medication right?

A:Glucophage (available in UK, Australia etc) and Glyciphage (sold in India) are same and contain metformin. The medication is absolutely correct. It is not necessary for every patient to lose weight while on medication.
