Allergy

Q: I am suffering from allergy, and the swelling is spreading through out the body, I feel the iritation. The swelling lasts for few minutes to hours. Please suggest treatment for this condition.

A:It appears that you have urticaria. A dermatologist has to examine the morphology of the eruption on your skin to confirm. In addition a systemic examination is called for to find any underlying systemic association or cause. Non systemic causes can include chemicals entering your body through air, food etc. In most cases symptomatic relief can be had from antihisteminics like avil, cetrizine, loratadine etc. The dosage has to be determined by the severity of the condition. In very acute and severe cases injectable medicines along with steroids may have to be given. Additional supportive therapy may also be required. In most cases, after a variable period of time, the problem undergoes spontaneous resolution. Till such time, minimal treatment is given to tide over the phase. In the remainder, cause has to be found and eliminated. Above is a sketch of the probable condition you suffer. You are advised to consult a dermatologist for proper management.
