Does Primolut N adversely affect the fetus?

Q: Due to unavoidable circumstances, I had to delay my menstrual cycle consecutively for two months. I used Primolut N for the same. First I used it for 3 days and then for 2 days. I had my regular periods a day after stopping the tablet in both the cases. But I did not get my period this month and on testing I found I am pregnant. I conceived inspite of having Copper T in place. I want to know if Primolut N has any adverse affect on the fetus? Does Copper T harm the fetus?

A:Primolut-N (norethisterone) is a progesterone hormone. It does not cause any problem to the foetus if mother has consumed the drug before Day 45 of gestation for very short duration such as your case. Hence it is not a matter of concern. There have been cases of failure with Copper T; if the ultrasound results are fine, then there should be no concern.
