Q. I am a 31 years old man having pain in the left side of my back. I got a urine test done recently in, which the physical examination showed colour yellow, turbidity as clear and nil deposit; chemical examination revealed pH - 5.0, sp. gr - 1.03, sugar - nil, protien - ++, blood - +++, ketones - nil, bilirubin - nil, urobilinogen - normal; and microscopic examination showed pus cell - 12-14/HPF, epithelial cells - 2-3/ HPF, Red blood cells - many/HPF, crystals - nil. Please advise.

A.  Your urine report shows gross pyuria (pus cells) and microscopic haematuria (blood). These are not disease in themselves but indicator of many disease of urinary tract. These could be simple diseases like infections or urinary stones, but could indicate serious aliments like cancers. You need detailed investigations to find the cause to treat it effectively.
