A:Insulin is the drug of choice in gestational diabetes if high blood glucose levels cannot be controlled with diet alone. Newer oral anti-diabetic agents have not been proven safe for gestational diabetes as of date principally due to lack of controlled clinical trials. It is unethical to conduct such trials in humans.
