When can we have intercourse after a caesarean?

Q: My wife delivered a girl through caesarean last month; simultaneously ligation was also done. This is her third delivery after the gap of 10 years. First two deliveries were also done through a caesarean. She's fine now and all stitches have been removed without any problem. She still has meagre blood flow from the vagina. We have not had intercourse for the last three months. My sexual urge is enhancing day by day, but she still resists. Is there any harm if we have intercourse. How long should one wait after a caesarean to have intercourse?

A:Generally speaking, one has to wait for 6-8 weeks after childbirth for sexual intercourse. In USA, the women usually get a check by their gynaecologist at 6-8 weeks after childbirth. At that time the contraception options are discussed, and a pelvic exam is done. If all is well, then they are given OK for sex.
