Q. My 58 years old father is diagnosed with idiopathic myelofibrosis where the body doesn’t produce enough blood cells in the bone marrow. He will require bone marrow transplantation. Is this available in India and what are the success rates?

A.  Bone marrow transplants are being done at several centres across the country. These include in Delhi - AIIMS, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, BL Kapur Memorial Hospital, at Vellore - Christian Medical College among other. For specific success rates it is advised that you communicate with these centres directly.
