What is treatment for coeliac disease?

Q: My 11 years old daughter weighs 28 kg. Eight years back, she had loose motions (10 – 15 times a day) for two months. Later, we came to know that she is suffering from coeliac disease. There is no family history of such disease. Is there any vaccination / treatment for coeliac disease?

A:At the present moment, there is no treatment for coeliac disease except gluten free diet (NO wheat, rye or barley). Only oats can be used. There is research currently being conducted on genetically modified wheat in patients with coeliac disease, but it will be a very long time before anything is available. There is no vaccination for this condition.
