Will bone tuberculosis recur?

Q: I am a 25 years old student who has been suffering from bone tuberculosis in my elbow for the last 12 years. I did not take the medicine, which was prescribed to me for six months but just for four months only. Now I have no problem. Will bone tuberculosis recur since I did not complete the full treatment?

A:You had an infection 12 years back, which means you had the treatment 12 years back and it is a long time ago. Ordinarily if relapse had to occur it would have occurred soon after within the first two or three years. Now that you have been fine for 13 years it is extremely unlikely you will have any relapse, because of that infection. In fact, now if you develop the infection it would be treated as a fresh infection and not as a relapse. You do not need to do anything on this now.
