How can IgA nephropathy be treated?

Q: I am 24 years old and have been detected with IgA nepropathy 6 months back. My creatinine is 1.8 mg/dl and there is protein found in my urine. Now the creatinine is 1.5 mg/dl and there is no albumin in urine. My question is how long can I maintain this condition? Is there any treatment in Ayurveda for this?

A:IgA nephropathy is the disease characterized by increased leakage of protein along with traces of blood in the urine. Further, it can affect the kidney's filtering function as obvious from elevated serum creatinine level. Main treatment focus is centered around strict blood pressure (target BP goal of <130/80mmHg) and elevated blood cholesterol control while continued avoidance of exposure to potential kidney toxic medications. The initial amount of protein leakage in the urine along with the serum creatinine value would be among the deciding factors regarding the long term prognosis of the disease process. Greater the amount and higher the value would be a poor prognostic marker, putting one to a higher risk of rapid progression of the disease process in years to follow. There is no treatment in Ayurveda medicine as far as I am aware. You would be well served by closely following up with your Kidney physician in your city.
