Q: I am a 55 years old man diagnosed with advanced liver cancer. The doctors have prescribed me an oral chemotherapy by sorafebin medicine. Is sorafebin an approved drug for liver cancer treatment in India? How long do I need to be treated with sorafebin?

A:Sorafenib (Nexavar) is approved in India for two indications only.

  1. Primary Hepatocellular cancer (Primary Liver Cancer and not metastatic liver cancer) - which you are having.
  2. Renal Cell Carcinoma (Kidney Cancer).
You have to take the medicine till the time the disease disappears or there is disease progression.
