Why did my mother have high blood pressure after surgery?
Q: My 62 years old mother had bypass surgery last week. Before the surgery her blood pressure (BP) was 136-140/90 mmHg. But after surgery the BP has risen to 160-200/90 mmHg. What can be the reason for this?
A:Blood Pressure after bypass surgery may fluctuate because of multiple reasons like pain, anxiety, stress, etc. Also the pre-operative blood pressure of 136-140/90 mmHg is not quite normal and is certainly in the hypertensive range.
