Why do I always feel sleepy and lethargic?

Q: I am a 35 years old woman who underwent intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) process last year and now I have a 13 months old daughter. I am breastfeeding her since birth. Delivery was caesarean. Presently I am having pain in legs and back. I don’t feel fresh and energetic in the morning and always feel sleepy. Due to this I am facing difficulty in doing my day-to-day household chores. What could be the cause of this?

A:

  1. It can be due to inadequate sleep or dietary deficiencies which maybe causing you these symptoms. Anaemia, vitamin b12 or folate deficiency and thyroid disorder need to be ruled out.
  2. Stop breast-feeding as your child is already on other dietary sources, does not get much nutrition from breast milk now and it only weakens your bones.
  3. Consult a physician.
