Are cholecalciferol granules helpful during teething?

Q. I have a 17 months old baby boy and I have heard that cholecalciferol granules are helpful during teething. My son is teething very badly and does not eat at all. I have been told that I can give it only once a week and it should make a difference. Is this really helpful?

A.  Let him have a good oral hygiene by brushing regularly. Cholecalciferol granules are given for Vitamin D deficiency (Rickets). Unnecessary medication can cause hyper vitaminosis. You can give him plain Calcium supplements.
