Q. I have been having acidity/gastric problem since the last 4 years and every night I take one 150 mg Zinetac tablet since the problem started. Is there any problem if i use this tablet as above?

A.  Zinetac is a brand name of a medicine called Ranitidine hydrochloride. It is used for short term use. In cases where peptic ulcer is healed it can be given to prevent relapse for a maximum period of 18 months. It is not wise to use Ranitidine as an alternative to antacids because it can mask symptoms of cancer and hence delay diagnosis. Please consult your doctor and get a firm diagnosis of your problem made.
