Dr PSN Menon is Consultant and Head of the Department of Pediatrics at the Jaber Al-Ahmed Armed Forces Hospital, Kuwait. He was Professor of Pediatrics at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and the Consultant in-charge of the Pediatric Endocrinology and Genetics Division of the Department of Pediatrics before this assignment.

Dr Menon was on the faculty of the AIIMS during 1981-2003 and was involved in clinical services, research and educational activities of the Department and the Institute. He has over 150 publications in indexed journals and has contributed chapters in several textbooks. He is one of the editors of the ‘IAP Textbook of Pediatrics’, now in 4th edition (2009) and ‘Pediatric Endocrine Disorders’ (second edition, 2008) and ‘Practical Pediatric Endocrinology’.

He is currently the Indian representative on the Asia Pacific Pediatric Endocrine Society (APPES). He was chairperson of the Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology Chapter of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP) and vice-chairman of its Growth and Development Chapter. He is a fellow of the IAP and has received several prestigious awards and orations. He is a member of the editorial board of the Indian Journal of Pediatrics and was member of the editorial boards of several prestigious journals related to pediatrics and endocrinology. He received financial support from national and international agencies for research projects on genetics and endocrinology and was a member of the task force on genetics of the Indian Council of Medical Research. He was involved in the development of newer and rapid molecular genetic diagnostic tests and mapping of genes for several genetic and endocrine disorders. As Sub-Dean at AIIMS, he helped to develop a comprehensive examination system for various national medical entrance tests.
