Dr M S Kanwar

Dr MS Kanwar is a Sr. Consultant Respiratory Medicine, Critical Care & Sleep Disorders, Apollo Hospital, New Delhi. He has done MBBS in (1974), MD (1978), MAMS (Respiratory Medicine)(1982), Fellowship Cardiology (University of Vienna, Austria). He had Fellowship in Sleep Disorders as well as Critical Care – both from Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA.

Dr Kanwar is well known & is one of the leading figures in his field in India. He had a distinguished career abroad for 13 years in the capacity of Consultant Respiratory Medicine & Critical Care & trained MRCP candidates also for several years.

Dr Kanwar is on the editorial Board of the CHEST - INDIA, a publication of the American College of Chest Physicians.

He has been the Chairman Scientific Committee of the International Critical Care Conference 2002 as well as National Congress on Bronchology 2003.

He was hailed by the medical community and the media alike in 1996 as a pioneer for setting up Asia’s best sleep laboratory in Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals Delhi and later the department of Sleep Medicine, the only one of its kind in India. He is generally considered the front – runner for spreading the awareness about this newer field of sleep medicine through his lectures in various scientific and non – scientific meetings across India. His lectures are very keenly looked forward to. He has also been a key figure in setting up Respiratory and Critical Care group which was responsible for improving the standards of medical Intensive Care units and Intensive care in general to International class.

His major fields of interest and experie nce among others are Asthma, Sepsis and Infection in the ICU, and Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), Tuberculosis and Bronchoscopy.
