Dr Abha Majumdar did her graduation (MBBS) and post graduation (MS Ob/Gyn) from S.N. Medical College, Agra University. During her graduation she was the recipient of 7 gold medals, certificate of Honours in 9 subjects and the president’s medal for being the best medical graduate for the year 1975. She was awarded fellowship at the international college of surgeons (Indian Section) in 1994. She has been attached to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital since 1987 as a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist and presently heads the unit of IVF and Human Reproduction. This unit was developed in the year 1990 to which she has been attached to since its inception, and has been in the team of doctors responsible for the first IVF baby of Northern India born in 1991.
She was felicitated on Doctors day by Dr BC Roy’s award, on 1st July 1999, for her outstanding contribution towards medicine and her field of specialty. She has also been awarded Nations Vikas Ratan Award by the Nations economic development and growth society in the year 2002 and Chitsa Ratan Award a certificate of excellence in Medical Science by the International Study Circle on 25th July 2007. She is in the faculty of her department, responsible for the teaching of postgraduate students for Diplomate of National Board (DNB). This year she has been recognized from her Center of IVF and Human Reproduction, for awarding FOGSI certificate for basic training in infertility and IUI for 2 days and for advanced infertility training by FOGSI for 15 days. She has been appointed by the National Diplomate Board as teacher for awarding fellowship in Reproductive Medicine (2 years fellowship) to post graduates in obstetrics and gynecology. She has conducted a number of updates, CME’s and workshops with evidence-based medicine as the theme, in the field of reproductive medicine in the city of Delhi. She has also been felicitated from her parent institution for outstanding contribution towards the field of specialty by Agra Alumini in 2006.
She is an executive committee member and member of the Editorial Board of Indian Society of Assisted Reproduction (ISAR) and the chairperson for the Infertility sub-committee of the Association of obstetrics and Gynecology of Delhi. She is the President and founder member of “Indian Fertility Society” (IFS). She is a member of National Association of Reproductive and Child Health of India (NARCHI), Federation of Obstetrician and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI) and of European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and has been an executive member the Endocrinological Committee and the Infertility Committee of FOGSI.
Her field of interest is in management of all cases related to infertility with special focus on reproductive endocrinology, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic corrective surgery, open microsurgery and macro surgery for gynecological disorders causing infertility and assisted reproductive techniques.
