Dr. Dureja has been working as a member of the faculty at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for the past 15 years. Before joining AIIMS, he worked at the Safdurjang Hospital, New Delhi where he had completed his postgraduate training. His areas of special interest are pain medicine, management of chronic and cancer pain, liver transplantation, intensive care and respiratory therapy anaesthesia for endocrine surgery, particularly phaeochromocytoma, anaesthesia for urological surgery, alternative medicine and management of children with cerebral palsy.
He has also done a special diploma course in Medical Education Technology from University of Dundee, United Kingdom. He has received a Gold Medal for his clinical research work in pain and acupuncture in 1996.
He is the editor of two journals:
- Hospital Today : A speciality journal for surgeons, anaesthetists and critical care specialists.
- Journal of Anaesthesiology and Clinical Pharmacology.
He has published more than 100 articles in journals of repute. He has edited 3 books and produced 12 videos as learning resource material for medical graduates. Apart from that, he is also a part-time consultant to the Spastics Society of Northern India and actively involved in the management of children with cerebral palsy.
