Dr Irwin Ziment trained in medicine in England and came to the United States in 1964.
He is currently a Professor of Medicine and a Vice-Chairman of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He was Chief of Medicine and Chief of Pulmonary Diseases at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center, Sylmar, California for 27 years until retirement.
His main interests are bronchospastic lung diseases, cough and mucus. He has expertise in alternative medicine, with a special interest in herbal medications including homeopathy. Dr Ziment authored a textbook 'Respiratory Pharmacology and Therapeutics'. He is currently involved in a program for improving medical care in Cambodia and Vietnam and sponsored a travel exchange of young physicians. He has traveled to India three times to participate in medical meetings, and has contributed editorials to the National Medical Journal of India.
