Dr Subodh Pande obtained his MBBS degree and Diploma in Radiology from the Moti Lal Nehru Medical College, Allahabad followed by post graduation in Radiotherapy from the AIIMS., New Delhi in 1977. After completing his tenure as Senior Resident in Radiotherapy at the AIIMS, he joined the Tata Memorial Hospital (TMH), Mumbai in 1982 as a Consultant in Radiation Oncology, which he served with distinction for 15 years. Besides contributing variously towards enhancing the clinical functioning and academics of the radiation oncology department at the TMH, he helped to establish its first Neuro-Oncology and Paediatric Oncology Joint Clinics in 1984 and 1988 respectively, that till today are involved in formulation of guidelines for the optimum multidisciplinary team management of the concerned patients.
In March 1997, Dr Pande left the TMH and joined the Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi as a Senior Consultant and Coordinator in Oncology and contributed significantly towards the setting up of its present Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology.
In 2005, Dr Pande joined the Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Jaipur as the Director Medical Services and Head of the Department of Radiation Oncology for a contractual period of three years, during which time, he introduced a variety of administrative reforms besides bringing up its overall clinical and academic standards. He also helped to set up an advanced radiotherapy facility at the Centre that included a modern Linear Accelerator, which was also the first for the entire State of Rajasthan.
In 2007, he returned to Delhi and is currently engaged as a Visiting Consultant in Radiation Oncology at the SMH-Curie Cancer Centre, East Delhi and the Pushpanjali Crosslay Hospital, Ghaziabad, where he lends his expertise in the use of modern radiotherapy techniques including IMRT and IGRT for treatment of all types of cancer. He harbours special interest in the management of head and neck, brain and childhood cancers and pursues his hobby of cartooning in his spare time.
Dr Pande has always maintained a keen interest in continued medical education and has been in the teaching faculty of the Mumbai University, the Maharashtra School of Nursing and the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi.
