Dr Mahipal S Sachdev did his MBBS from the prestigious apex institution the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He pursued MD in Ophthalmology at Dr Rajendra Prasad Center for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, the national apex institute for ophthalmology. He was trained in the super-specialty of Cornea, Refractive Surgery and Phacoemulsification. He was selected for advanced training and fellowship in Cornea at the Georgetown University, Washington, USA.

Dr Sachdev has been Secretary of the Delhi Ophthalmological Society and the Chairman, Scientific Committee of All India Ophthalmological Society. Currently he is the Chairman Intraocular Implant and Refractive Society, India. He authored the book named "Phacoemulsification: A Practical Guide" the first Indian bookon the subject. He is co-editor of internationally released book "Phacoemulsification, Foldable Intraocular Lens and Laser Cataract Surgery". He is the Medical Director of the 'Centre for Sight' clinic in New Delhi.

He is a pioneer in the field of Phacoemulsification and Lasik Laser in India. He has conducted several courses and recently his instruction course was accepted by the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) to demonstrate live the technique of Phacoemulsification. This was telecast live via satellite to its annual conference at Seattle, USA - an unprecedented honour for an Indian doctor. Dr Sachdev has also bagged several awards, delivered orations and has several publications to his credit. Recently he has been recognized by Summit Autonomous of USA as a leading refractive surgeon in the laser vision correction science and inducted into the "Summit Autonomous Society" (SAS). He received SAS Silver Award in recognition of more than 1000 successful Lasik operations performed in just one year (1999).
