  • Completed his MRCP in 1963 and was elected FRCP in 1976.

  • Appointed Consultant Paediatrician at Queen Charlotte's Maternity Hospital in 1970.
  • Consultant Paediatrician at St. Charles and St. Mary's Hospital from 1970-1992.
  • Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School from 1992-1995.
  • From 1995, Professor of Paediatrics and Neonatal Medicine at the University of London, now at Imperial College School of Medicine.

    Achievements:

  • Honorary Secretary, British Paediatric Association 1979-1984.
  • Editor-in-Chief of Early Human Development.
  • James Spence Medal, Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health 1999.
  • Has publications in general and neonatal paediatrics.
