Rupa & Co., New Delhi

If you want to know how best to look after your hair - to keep it lustrous, thick and healthy then this is the book for you. Beryl Franklin is an experienced trichologist who trained in London and has many useful suggestions to offer. She also points out how ill-conceived some of the notions of beautifying our hair are. Very often these do more damage than good. There are detailed explanations of the various approaches to hair removal. This book predates laser treatment so one hopes that the author will now republish it with a fresh chapter on this newer method which is not necessarily always safe so needs to be understood. Franklin herself advocates Thermolysis. It is certainly a welcome read and provides an insight into the structure, hygiene and upkeep of one of the most cosmetically important parts of our body.

Author Profile: Born in Delhi in 1933, Beryl Franklyn is a science graduate of Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow. She did her training at the Institute of Tricology, London, UK. She is a registered member of the Institute of Trichologists (Inc.), UK.
