The latter was an expose on the indiscriminate use of pesticides and their devastating effect on the flora and fauna of a country. The former is a meticulously researched expose of Americas fast food industry - its negative impact upon the health and lives of ordinary Americans - both workers and consumers! It is described as an industry that both feeds and feeds off the young. The low price of a fast food hamburger does not reflect its real cost. The profits of the fast food industry have been made posssible by losses imposed on the rest of society. The annual cost of obesity alone is now twice as large as the fast food industrys total revenues!! This is an important book. It helps open our eyes to a reality we tend to ignore.
