| Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) is an international non-profit organisation helps slum women in Delhi beat diseases like cervical cancer. SIFE works with leaders in business and higher education to mobilise university students to make a difference in their communities while developing the skills they require to become socially responsible business leaders. Participating students form groups within their university campuses and apply business concepts to develop outreach projects that improve the quality of life and standard of living of impoverished people.
SIFE CBS is a society based at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies (SSCBS) which aims to do its part in contributing to the society at large. At SIFE CBS, one of the projects we have undertaken is-
SANITARY SOLUTIONS- A health initiative for women which was undertaken with the sole aim of improving the sanitary health of women living in slums. The project has been implemented in a few slums of Delhi, with the assistance of the local slum women. This involves setting up of a business model for these women to provide hygienic sanitary napkins at a low cost, make sure that the women understand the benefits of using sanitary pads over cloth or any alternative item and also to ensure a sustainable income for them. |
